RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH MICHAEL Y. CORBETT AND ASSOCIATES FOR STATE LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY (LOBBYING) SERVICES FOR THE TERM OF JANUARY 1, 2008 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2008, IN THE AMOUNT OF $93,000

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, an estimated 80 percent of the County’s budget is required to fund both state and federally mandated programs and services. It is therefore imperative that the County be actively involved and well represented in the development of both state and federal policy, program and funding priorities; and

 

WHEREAS, after a competitive RFP process in 2006 Michael Y. Corbett and Associates was selected to negotiate the terms and conditions for a contract to provide the County of San Mateo state legislative advocacy (lobbying) services; and

 

WHEREAS, the County of San Mateo and Michael Y. Corbett and Associates desire that Michael Y. Corbett and Associates be retained to provide, in the capacity of an independent contractor, state legislative advocacy (lobbying) services to and for the benefit of the County of San Mateo;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors does hereby authorize:

1)

The County Manager to execute an agreement with Michael Y. Corbett and Associates for state legislative advocacy (lobbying) services for the term of January 1, 2008 through December 31, 2008, in an amount not to exceed $93,000; and

2)

The Deputy County Manager of Intergovernmental and Public Affairs to execute contract amendments which modify the County's maximum fiscal obligation by no more than $25,000 (in aggregate), and/or modify the contract term and/or services so long as the modified term or services is/are within the current or revised fiscal provisions.
