PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING MARCH 10, 2008, AS | ||||
National Registered Dietician Day | ||||

WHEREAS, Registered Dietitians are food and nutrition experts who can translate the science of nutrition into practical solutions for healthy living, obesity prevention and treatment, diabetes prevention and treatment, plus management of many other nutrition-related chronic and acute diseases; | ||||
WHEREAS, Registered Dietitians hold advanced degrees in nutrition, dietetics, public health and/or a related scientific field from accredited colleges and universities, and participate in continuing education programs; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Registered Dietitians are found throughout the community in hospitals, out-patient multidisciplinary medical clinics, schools and universities, public health clinics, nursing homes, fitness centers, the foodservice industry, research organizations and in private practice; and | ||||
WHEREAS, there are more than 8,000 Registered Dietitians in California, including some 350 Registered Dietitians in San Mateo Count, who use their knowledge, experiences and expertise to help individuals make personal, positive lifestyle changes in the prevention and treatment of debilitating chronic diseases. | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County hereby designates March 10, 2008, as national Registered Dietician Day in San Mateo County, and acknowledges March 2008 as National Nutrition Month. The Board expresses its appreciation for the work of Registered Dieticians and further encourages everyone to make healthy choices for themselves and their families. | ||||
