THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

REVEREND THOMAS FISHER

Second Baptist Church in Redwood City, California

WHEREAS, REVEREND THOMAS FISHER as a servant of the Lord has served the people of his congregation in many ways including educating the people in his church community on HIV/AIDS during the Black Church Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS; and

   
 

WHEREAS, the Black Church Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS is a national AIDS awareness campaign that engages Black congregations to support, encourage and empower African Americans, Africans and all people of the Diaspora to take action toward stopping the spread of HIV/AIDS in Black communities worldwide; and

   
 

WHEREAS, REVEREND THOMAS FISHER has supported the efforts of Hope Preservation, Inc. in all of its endeavors to educate the African American community about HIV/AIDS; and

 

 

WHEREAS, REVEREND THOMAS FISHER has been instrumental in educating congregations, children, neighbors and families about the disease of HIV/AIDS, for which there is no cure; and

   
 

WHEREAS, REVEREND THOMAS FISHER has distributed information on HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment education and care, and encouraged individuals to take the HIV/AIDS test; and

   
 

WHEREAS, REVEREND THOMAS FISHER has opened up the doors of his church and welcomed those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS and has affirmed those people living with HIV/AIDS as children of God; and

   
 

WHEREAS, REVEREND THOMAS FISHER has shown through his actions that the potential for strength, endurance, courage, inventiveness and creativity exists in every human being God has created,

   
 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby commends REVEREND THOMAS FISHER for his leadership, dedication and commitment to his congregation and the community of San Mateo County and wishes him continued success in his HIV/AIDS educational efforts.
