THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
*RESOLUTION UPON THE RETIREMENT OF*

*JOHN EDWARD MEERMANS*
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
WHEREAS, for over 35 years John Meermans has dedicated his entire career to improve the lives of low-income individuals and families who utilize the San Mateo County Human Services Agency by providing financial advice and guidance; and

WHEREAS, due to past Federal and State legislations such as TANF/CalWORKs, Realignment, Medi-Cal Administrative Cost Control, and the Family Protection Act John Meermans has constructed the foundation of funding methodology for other human services programs in place today; and

WHEREAS, John Meermans’ creative and global view has helped develop a state-of-the-art funding model to deliver prompt and comprehensive human services to residents in San Mateo County and throughout the State of California; and WHEREAS, John Meermans’ many collaborative efforts with philanthropic organizations, schools, cities, and State and County departments have resulted in the braiding of private and public funds to maximize human services funding; and WHEREAS, due to John Meermans’ generosity in sharing his vast knowledge of funding, programming and system knowledge with Agency staff, County and State Departments, associations and non profits, he will leave a lasting legacy in helping others; and

*WHEREAS, San Mateo County Human Services Agency Finance Director John Meermans has made a considerable and positive impact on the health and well-being of children in San Mateo County.*

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County does hereby congratulate John Meermans on his retirement and extend its best wishes to him on his future endeavors. John will always be remembered for his many contributions to the community.
