RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING

Nancy E. Lane

Upon Her Induction Into The

San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame

WHEREAS, Nancy E. Lane has devoted her professional career toward research into the epidemiology and genetics of osteoporosis and osteoarthritis, diseases that disproportionately afflict women; and

WHEREAS, Nancy’s work has led to significant discoveries and breakthroughs that have created new opportunities for treatment, underscored by the fact that the population of San Mateo County – and the country as a whole – continues to age with the bulk of the Baby Boomers approaching retirement; and

WHEREAS, in addition to her extensive credentials and publications, Nancy is a frequent, strong and unwavering voice providing useful and understandable information to arthritis patients as well as their families and care-providers; and

WHEREAS, Nancy recognizes the importance of mentoring future generations of research physicians and scientists, who will continue her efforts to combat diseases and, ultimately, improve patient health.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Nancy E. Lane upon her induction into the San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame. The Board hereby extends to Nancy and her family its gratitude and adds sincere wishes for continued excellence.
