RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING | ||||
Claire C. Mack | ||||
Upon Her Induction Into The | ||||
San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame | ||||

WHEREAS, Claire C. Mack is a Peninsula native, who has conspicuously dedicated her life to making her neighborhood, her community, her city a better place for all in which to live, work and play; and | ||||
WHEREAS, beyond her years on the San Mateo Parks and recreation Commission, three terms as a councilmember, the City of San Mateo’s first African American mayor, Claire’s leadership has touched myriad people regionally; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Claire fought for affordable housing long before others recognized the need; she battled critics to achieve the vision of a revitalized downtown; Claire led the drive for the new public library; she welcomed and helped disseminate divergent viewpoints; she reached out to day workers; for 12 years Claire awoke at 4 a.m. every Saturday to lead a street-cleaning team comprised of homeless people; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Claire’s work ethic, empathy for others, deep sense of civic duty and pride are infectious and set first-class examples for others to admire and emulate. | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Claire C. Mack upon her induction into the San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame. The Board hereby extends to Claire and her family its gratitude and adds sincere wishes for continued excellence. | ||||
