THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

ROSS PETERSON and BAERS

In recognition of their work in support of emergency preparedness in San Mateo County

WHEREAS, ROSS PETERSON was instrumental in the founding of the Bay Area Educational Amateur Radio Society (BAERS), an organization that is one of our nation’s leading training providers for individuals who seek to learn how to become licensed HAM radio operators; and

 

WHEREAS, ROSS PETERSON has been an innovator in the development of training methods that enable people from all walks of life to learn the skills needed to become a licensed HAM radio operator; and

 

WHEREAS, BAERS, under ROSS PETERSON’S leadership has, since 2003, developed a cadre of loyal volunteers who have conducted approximately 50 classes in San Mateo County and throughout the Bay Area that were attended by more than 2,000 people who have gone on to become licensed as HAM radio operators; and

 

WHEREAS, ROSS PETERSON is a very active and valued member of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Reserve Communications Unit, which is able to utilize John’s talents and skills in HAM radio operations; and

WHEREAS, San Mateo County will be better prepared to respond to the next major emergency as a result of the work of ROSS PETERSON and BAERS in developing and maintaining a critical communications network of HAM radio operators.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby commends ROSS PETERSON and BAERS for their leadership, dedication and commitment to emergency preparedness which benefits all of the residents of San Mateo County, as well as the entire bay area, and wishes them continued success.
