THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

TERRENCE R. FLINN

Upon his retirement from the County of San Mateo

WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of this Board, that TERRENCE R. (Terry) FLINN is retiring from his position as a Manager of the Appraisal Services Division of the Department of the Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder of the County of San Mateo; and

WHEREAS, TERRENCE R. FLINN has served this County in the administration of property tax appraisals for 35 years, and has earned a reputation among his colleagues for technical expertise and for leadership in the development of statewide standards, notably in the evolving biotech and airline industries; and

WHEREAS, TERRENCE R. FLINN’s efforts in property assessment have contributed to the fiscal stability of local government by helping to ensure that all property owners pay their fair share; and

WHEREAS, TERRENCE R. FLINN has always treated every property owner with equal respect providing information and assistance to resolve issues affecting their lives and property regardless of the nature or complexity of the issues at hand; and

WHEREAS, TERRENCE R. FLINN’s educational outreach to municipal and district financial officers and other stakeholders significantly increased their understanding of actual and predicted property tax revenues, making them better budget managers for those communities; and

WHEREAS, TERRENCE R. FLINN’s patriotism and devotion to public service had previously taken wing during his years of honorable service as a pilot in the United States Navy; and

WHEREAS, TERRENCE R. FLINN’s persistent cheerfulness and can-do attitude reflect his optimism and steady hand in the face of any challenge—including the mountains of reference documents in his office; and

WHEREAS, TERRENCE R. FLINN will be remembered for the work he accomplished and the respect and enjoyment felt for and by the people who worked with him at the County of San Mateo,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby commends TERRENCE R. FLINN for a job well done, and wishes him many healthy and rewarding years ahead.
