RECOMMENDATION:
|
Honor and recognize local businesses that are certified as a Green Business in the unincorporated areas of San Mateo County.

BACKGROUND:
|
On April 24, 2007, the Board adopted a resolution to establish a pilot phase of the existing Association of Bay Area Governments Green Business Program with several cities in San Mateo County. The pilot program ended with extremely positive results. The program has been extended and will be expanded to increase additional partner cities.

DISCUSSION:
|
To date, a total of seven businesses in the unincorporated areas of San Mateo County have participated in the Green Business program and have received certification. The certified Green Businesses in the unincorporated area include:
• Belika
• Flea Street Café
• Half Moon Bay Brewing Company
• Klein’s Deli at San Francisco International Airport (two locations)
• Newdoll Enterprises
• Osho Japanese Cuisine at San Francisco International Airport
Our county is fortunate to have business owners who are committed to conserving energy and water and reducing waste and pollution.
