SUBJECT:

County Office Building Elevator Modernization, 455 County Center, Redwood City (Project No. P11P1)

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Adopt a resolution adopting plans and specifications, including conformance with prevailing wage scale requirements, and calling for sealed proposals for County Office Building Elevator Modernization, 455 County Center, Redwood City, California.

Goal 7: Maintain and enhance the public safety of all residents and visitors.

 

Your Board’s adoption of the proposed resolution can result in a project to sustain a major building system at 455 County Center for the benefit of both the public and the employees that use this facility.

 

BACKGROUND:

The elevator system at 455 County Center is over 40 years old and needs to be modernized.

 

DISCUSSION:

The proposed project will modernize two passenger elevators with new controls, selectors, motors, governors, car and hoistway wiring, and reconditioning or modifying other components such as signal fixtures, door operating equipment and machines in order to improve elevator operation and passenger handling capabilities.

 

The modernized elevator system will comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act and all codes and regulations necessary for a Permit to Operate from the State of California.

 

A resolution has been approved as to form by County Counsel.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The estimated construction cost of the project is $270,000 and an appropriation has been established in the 2007/2008 Capital Projects Budget that is financed by General Funds.
