RESOLUTION 1)AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO PURCHASE A 64 SLICE CT SCANNER FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $922,000 2) AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH GE HEALTHCARE TECHNOLOGIES TO RENOVATE SPACE AND INSTALL THE CT SCANNER AT SAN MATEO MEDICAL CENTER (SMMC) FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $662,651; AND 3) AUTHORIZING INFORMATION SERVICES (ISD) TO COORDINATE THE UPGRADE OF SCIMAGE FOR THE RENOVATION AND INSTALLATION IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $189,000

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, San Mateo Medical Center’s wishes to upgrade its CT SCAN system to improve speed and detail capability; and

WHEREAS, on July 18, 2007 a Request for Proposal (RFP) was issued for the provision of a 64 slice CT Scanner; and

WHEREAS, this Board has determined that, based on technology, reliability, cost, and architecture, it is in the County’s best interest to obtain the 64-slice CT Scanner from GE Healthcare Technologies (GE) at an amount not to exceed $922,000, which includes tax, freight and a one year warranty; and

WHEREAS, available space in the Radiology Department at San Mateo Medical Center requires renovation prior to installation of the scanner; and

WHEREAS, it is more cost effective to have GE, the maker of the scanner, do the necessary renovation work; and

WHEREAS, grants totaling $1,785,652 are being provided by Health Resources and Service Administration and the San Mateo Medical Center Foundation to cover the cost of the scanner, the renovation of the space and the upgrade of the Sclmage, which is a Picture Archive Communication System, thereby relieving the County of any net costs for this project; and

WHEREAS, there has been presented to the Board of Supervisors for its consideration and acceptance an Agreement with GE Healthcare Technologies, reference to which is hereby made for further particulars, whereby GE Healthcare Technologies shall renovate a room in the Radiology Department of the San Mateo Medical Center and install a 64 slice CT Scanner; and

WHEREAS, the Board has considered this Agreement and has approved it as to both form and content and desires to enter into it.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the purchase of a 64 slice CT Scanner from GE Healthcare Technologies is approved and the County Purchasing Agent is authorized to effect such purchase.

IT IS HEREBY FURTHER RESOLVED that the Information Services Department is authorized to coordinate the upgrade of the ScImage for the renovation and installation.

IT IS HEREBY FURTHER RESOLVED that the President of the Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Agreement for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of the Board shall attest the President’s signatures thereto.
