BACKGROUND

The Employee of the Month program was established in December 1984 to recognize and honor County employees who consistently demonstrate an outstanding level of performance.

Our Employee of the Month for April 2008 is Tammie Sweetser, a Benefits Analyst II in the Human Services Agency.

DISCUSSION

Tammie began her employment with the County in 2005 as a Benefits Analyst in the Eligibility Determination Unit in the Human Services Agency. Tammie worked as a screening and assessment specialist, quickly becoming known for her effective way with clients, exceptional service and teamwork. Tammie was afforded the opportunity to accept a work out of class assignment in January of 2007 as an Administrative Secretary. Tammie has continued to impress her supervisors and co-workers with her consistent ability to go above and beyond what is requested of her. Recently, a co-worker wrote “Tammie assisted me in obtaining signatures for agreements that had to be processed quickly and it was done within a short time frame with great customer service. These agreements are so important and provide critical services to our clients”. Tammie also has exhibited hard work and dedication through her volunteering for the Earned Income Tax Credit Program to prepare taxes for low-income members of our community. In addition, she recently helped out in the Healthy Kids program when they were short staffed. Tammie worked during evenings and weekends to approve applications for children to receive medical coverage, an essential for all children.

In summary, Tammie is always willing to assist her team members and maintains a positive and professional attitude, even when faced with increasing pressures of her day-to-day job. Tammie will seek answers when needed and is always willing to learn a new task or process.

Our County is fortunate to have Tammie Sweetser as one of its outstanding employees.
