RECOMMENDATION:

Adopt a resolution revising the bid opening date of the sealed proposals for construction of a new Meadow View playground at the Junipero Serra County Park located at 1801 Crystal Springs Road, San Bruno, California (Project No. P12P2)

VISION ALIGNMENT:

Commitment: Ensure basic health and safety for all.

Goal 7: Maintain and enhance the public safety of all residents and visitors.

Construction of a new playground at Junipero Serra County Park that meets current standards will minimize the risk of injuries while providing an interactive play structure for children.

BACKGROUND:

Previous Board Action

Adopted Resolution No. 089316 on March 11, 2008, authorizing the Director of Public Works to call for bids for this project.

DISCUSSION:

The Resolution adopted by the Board on March 11, 2008 should have stated that the bids would be publicly opened and declared on April 8, 2008 instead of April. 1, 2008. April 8, 2008 is the date that was included in the bid documents and included in the public notices. Upon consultation with County Counsel, it has been determined that the bids should remain due on April 8, 2008 as advertised; however the opening and reading of the bids should be changed by Board resolution to Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at 2:30 p.m.

The resolution has been reviewed as to form by County Counsel.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The estimated construction cost of the project is $570,000 and an appropriation has been established in the 2007/2008 Capital Projects Budget that is financed by Proposition 12 and 40 Grants. These grant funds are received on a reimbursable basis, and the project will initially be financed with Parks Acquisition and Development Funds.

There is no impact to the General Fund.
