THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
*RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING*

*Vince Fontana* *ON HIS RECEIPT OF THE 2007 FARM OF THE YEAR AWARD FROM THE SAN MATEO COUNTY FARM BUREAU*
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
*WHEREAS, Vince Fontana is a fourth generation member of the Coastside agricultural community and has dedicated most of his life to Coastside agriculture; and*

*WHEREAS, during his years of farming and ranching, Vince Fontana has raised artichokes, Christmas trees and cattle; and*

*WHEREAS, since the mid 1970s Vince Fontana has focused on cattle ranching beginning by leasing ranches directly from private property owners; and* WHEREAS, during this time Vince Fontana build a strong reputation among ranch owners and became a highly sought after ranch operation preparing many successful grazing plans and conservation efforts that suited the landlords needs; and *WHEREAS, Vince Fontana currently leases about 4,000 acres of ranchland in San Mateo County and is raising between 150 and 175 cattle on that land; and*

*WHEREAS, Vince Fontana has done all this ranching as his second job, which shows his strong dedication to Coastside agriculture and his understanding of its importance to the community as a whole.*

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County does hereby recognize and congratulate Vince Fontana on his hard work and his ranching success, and gives its thanks to his commitment to the community and Coastside farming.
