RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR TO EXERCISE OPTIONS TO EXTEND THE AGREEMENT WITH NORTHERN CLAIMS MANAGEMENT, INC. TO ADMINISTER WORKERS’ COMPENSATION CLAIMS FOR TWO ONE-YEAR PERIODS, JUNE 1, 2008 THROUGH MAY 31, 2009 IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $701,364, AND JUNE 1, 2009 THROUGH MAY 31, 2010 IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $715,392.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, on May 24, 2005 this Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution No. 067333, which authorized the execution of an agreement with Northern Claims Management, Inc. for the administration of workers' compensation claims for three years (June 1, 2005 to May 31, 2008), with the right of the County, in its sole discretion, to extend the agreement to exercise one or two one-year options and to extend the term of the agreement; and

 

WHEREAS, the Director of Human Resources recommends that the County exercise the option to extend the agreement for two one year options from June 1, 2008 to May 31, 2009 and from June 1, 2009 to May 31, 2009; and

 

WHEREAS, the Board desires to grant the Director of Human Resources the authority to exercise the second option of a one year extension if the Director of Human Resources deems it appropriate to do so;

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that this Board of Supervisors authorizes the Director of Human Resources, or her designee, to exercise the option to extend the agreement with Northern Claims Management, Inc. at a total fiscal obligation not to exceed $701,364 for the period from June 1, 2008 to May 31, 2009.

IT IS FURTHER DETERMINED AND ORDERED that this Board of Supervisors authorizes the Director of Human Resources, or her designee, to exercise the second one year option to extend the agreement with Northern Claims Management, Inc. at a total fiscal obligation not to exceed $715,392 for the period from June 1, 2009 to May 31, 2010, if the Director of Human Resources, or her designee determines it is in the County of San Mateo’s best interest to do so.
