RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING

David Jonathan Miller

Upon Receiving The

2008 Community Leadership Award

Presented by the Peninsula Coalition

WHEREAS, David Jonathan Miller, since 1976, has provided legal wisdom and counsel to the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District; and the San Mateo County Transit District, plus Caltrain, since its creation in 1988; and

   

WHEREAS, for some 30 years, David has directly helped to guide and navigate some of the Bay Area’s principal mass transit systems through local, state and federal laws governing public agencies, including those involving real estate, construction, labor, procurement and general administration; and

   

WHEREAS, a native of New York City, David holds a bachelor’s degree from Alfred University in Alfred, New York; and a juris doctor from Syracuse University College of Law, where he edited the law review and earned membership in the Order of the Coif; and

   

WHEREAS, for more than 40 years, David has been married to Elizabeth (Bebes) Miller, a veteran English and French teacher at Crystal Springs Upland School in Hillsborough; together they raised two daughters, Rebecca and Stephanie; and

   

WHEREAS, David, respected lawyer by day, accomplished musician by night, is often found at the piano of a jazz trio entertaining at events ranging from social gatherings to three recent retreats of the US Senate Democratic Caucus.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates David Jonathan Miller upon the honor of receiving the 2008 Community Leadership Award, as presented by the Peninsula Coalition. The Board hereby expresses to David its gratitude and extends sincere wishes for continuous success and excellence.
