RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING | ||||
The San Mateo County Building & Construction Trades Council | ||||
Upon Its | ||||
Centennial Celebration | ||||

WHEREAS, on April 10, 1908, the San Mateo County Building & Construction Trades Council, AFL-CIO, received its charter from the California State Building Trades Council; and | ||||
WHEREAS, after a century of support for individuals and families, the SMBTC now has 24 affiliated construction locals, boasting a combined membership of more than 16,000 highly skilled and deeply experienced craftsmen and craftswomen representing every aspect of the building profession; and | ||||
WHEREAS, the Council continues to collaborate with developers as well as individual property owners to communicate and educate regarding the long-term benefits of employing union contractors; SMBTC also fosters future generations of such a skilled workforce through long-standing apprenticeship programs; and | ||||
WHEREAS, the Building Trades Council’s unwavering mission remains one of improving the working conditions of all construction workers, while promoting the unmatched value provided by skilled union men and women; and through them the Council helps to improve the quality of construction on the Peninsula; and | ||||
WHEREAS, the Council enters its second century recognizing and adapting to the challenges and opportunities brought about by new services, products and technologies within the industry, while working to ensure the long-term viability of Council’s membership and those who rely on union men and women. | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates the San Mateo County Building & Construction Trades Council upon the celebration of its 100th Anniversary. The Board further extends sincere wishes for at least another century of success and excellence. | ||||
