FROM:

SUBJECT:

Resolution authorizing the Director or designee of the Dept. of Housing to sign the Agreement and Grant of Sanitary Sewer Easement between Bayshore Sanitary District and the Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo.

RECOMMENDATION:

Adopt Resolution 2008-05 approving an Agreement and Grant of Sanitary Sewer Easement between Bayshore Sanitary District and the Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo and authorizing the Director or designee to sign the Agreement and Grant.

VISION ALIGNMENT:

Commitment: Offering a full range of housing choices.

Goal(s): #9. Housing exists for people of all income levels and for all generations of families.

BACKGROUND:

The Bayshore Sanitary District (BSD) provides sewer service to Midway Village and operates and maintains the collection system within Midway Village. Although BSD does not maintain the lateral lines serving the individual buildings at Midway Village, BSD does maintain the main sewer lines serving Midway Village.

As a result of substantial renovation undertaken at two of the buildings located at Midway Village, the Housing Authority abandoned the old main sewer line serving the buildings and built a new line as a continuation to an existing BSD main line.

In order for BSD to maintain this new sewer line, BSD has requested an easement in connection with the main sewer line servicing the two buildings.

DISCUSSION:

In order to assure access for the operation and maintenance of the main sewer infrastructure that will serve Midway Village, BSD has requested a permanent nonexclusive easement for the purpose of installing, maintaining, repairing, upgrading, and replacing main sewer facilities that will serve the property.

County Counsel has reviewed and approved the Agreement and Grant of Sanitary Sewer Easement and the Resolution as to form.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no Net County Cost associated with this action.
