THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

 

TRAIL CENTER

FOR 25 YEARS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, the TRAIL CENTER was launched in 1983 as a non profit organization to provide and promote quality non- motorized trail opportunities for all people in San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and San Francisco Counties by working with government agencies, outdoor enthusiasts and other interested parties to create and manage an interconnected network of trails in the four county region; and

   

WHEREAS, the TRAIL CENTER publishes “The Trail Companion” and an activity schedule, provides a website with guides, maps and other trail related information, maps parks and trails, surveys trails, and organizes trail building and repair projects; and

   

WHEREAS, for twenty-five years the TRAIL CENTER has provided vision, expertise and volunteers to build and renovate many trails in San Mateo County Parks; and

 

WHEREAS, the TRAIL CENTER has been partnering with the Department of Parks to renovate trails in Memorial Park and in the San Bruno Mountain State and County Park, while at the same time is assisting with the development of a Trail Crew Leadership Program; and

 

WHEREAS, the TRAIL CENTER will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year on National Trails Day at an event in Memorial County Park on June 7, 2008.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County hereby commends the TRAIL CENTER for their volunteer contributions to the County and wishes the organization continued great success.
