THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

LEE FOSTER

In recognition of her work as Executive Director of the Hillbarn Theatre

WHEREAS, LEE FOSTER has been the Executive Director of the Hillbarn Theatre for ten years, during which time, under her leadership and with the support of the Board of Directors, staff, actors and the community at large, the Hillbarn Theatre has enjoyed great success, both financially and artistically; and

 

WHEREAS, when LEE FOSTER volunteered in 1997 to serve as Executive Director of the Hillbarn Theatre, the institution was in danger of closing its doors due to significant debt and dwindling audiences, but under the direction of LEE FOSTER the Hillbarn Theatre is now on a sound financial footing and the Hillbarn Theatre benefits from increased support and visibility in the community; and

 

WHEREAS, LEE FOSTER hired an outstanding production team that included artistic director Toni Tomei, who in turn attracted skilled acting talent to the Hillbarn Theatre; and

WHEREAS, LEE FOSTER founded the Children’s Conservatory which has created an audience for the next generation and which has given hundreds of children the delight of performing in live theatre; and

 

WHEREAS, LEE FOSTER assisted the Board of Directors and involved local community leaders, business and civic organizations, in the development and implementation of a strategic plan to guide the Hillbarn Theatre, the result of which has been the funding of capital projects, a 250% increase in ticket sales and an increase in the annual budget from $175,000 to $700,000.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby commends LEE FOSTER for her leadership, dedication, commitment and contributions to the success of the Hillbarn Theatre, which benefits all of the residents of San Mateo County, as well as the entire bay area, and wishes her continued success.
