BACKGROUND:

On May 24, 2007 the County Manager’s Office approved a three year Agreement (Agreement # 71000-08-C006) with Coastside Hope (formerly known as Coastside Opportunity Center) for the period of July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2010 to provide Core Services, (safety net and referral services in San Mateo County). However, the Agreement with Coastside only included the first year funding. The Agreement with Coastside needs to be amended in order to add the second and third year funding for Fiscal Years (FYs)

2008-09 and 2009-10 to avoid interruption of services to San Mateo County residents.

DISCUSSION:

Coastside is one of the seven (7) Core Services Agencies, which provides information, referral, emergency assistance, case management and other critical services. These Core Services provide access to the County’s Human Services delivery system and serves as part of the network to prevent homelessness. The additional two year funding for
FYs 2008-09 and 2009-10 will enable Coastside to continue serving clients who are residing in the coastal areas of San Mateo County.

The Contractor has assured compliance with the County’s Contractor Employee Jury Service Ordinance, as well as other contract provisions that are required by County ordinance and administrative memoranda, including but not limited to insurance, hold harmless, non-discrimination, equal benefits. County Counsel has approved the Amendment as to form and Risk Management has approved the Contractor’s Insurance.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The term of the Agreement remains the same, July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2010. This Amendment adds $134,876 to the Agreement for a total obligation of $215,350, the $134,876 is 100% Net County Cost. Appropriations for this Amendment are included in the Recommended Budget for FY 2008-09 and 2009-10.
