RECOMMENDATION:
|
Appoint B.J. Burns to the Agricultural Advisory Board representing the category of Farmer/Grower Member. The appointment would be effective immediately and run for a term to conclude on June 30, 2012.

Goal(s): Civic engagement -- including voting, public service, charitable giving, volunteerism, and participation in public discussions of important issues -- is uniformly high among the diverse population of San Mateo County.

BACKGROUND:
|
There are currently three vacancies on the Agricultural Advisory Board.
BJ Burns is a resident of Pescadero who lives and works as a farmer in the Coastside community. Among his many civic engagements, Mr. Devcich is a member of the San Mateo County Farm Bureau including serving as President, Vice President and Treasurer, serving on the Central Coast Agricultural Water Quality Coalition, and was a former member of the San Mateo Agricultural Advisory Board. His dedication to the community and strong agricultural background will make him an excellent farmer/grower member of the Agricultural Advisory Board.
