Appointment to the Emergency Medical Care Committee

RECOMMENDATION:

Appoint Lee Philipson to the Committee’s Red Cross seat.

BACKGROUND:

The Emergency Medical Care Committee is a 21-member body overseeing ambulance services in San Mateo County. The membership includes representatives from law enforcement, fire services, emergency communications, health and medical services, coroner services and five members of the public, with no professional interests in emergency medical care.

DISCUSSION:

Lee Philipson is the San Mateo County disaster services manager for the American Red Cross Bay Area. He is nominated as the replacement for Dr. Donald H. Cheu, whose term expired March 31, 2008.

Mr. Philipson’s appointment would be for a term of four years expiring March 31, 2012.
