RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING

Bernadette M. Smith

For

21 Years of Service to the Peninsula

WHEREAS, since 1987, Bernadette M. Smith has been president and CEO of Seton Medical Center and Seton Coastside, providing high-quality health care to the people of San Mateo County; and

WHEREAS, Bernadette has consistently demonstrated a professional as well as a personal commitment to the health of the community by dedicating considerable resources toward new programs and improving services, especially for low-income individuals and families; and

WHEREAS, Bernadette’s leadership has been central in the creation of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton New Life Center, plus myriad projects as a board members of the San Mateo County Hospital Consortium; and

WHEREAS, Bernadette’s tireless work remains a model for others to emulate, as underscored by the 2006 Cypress Leadership Award presented by the Daly City-Colma Chamber of Commerce.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County recognizes and commends Bernadette M. Smith for 21 years of selfless service to the people of San Mateo County. The Board expresses its gratitude to Bernadette and extends sincere wishes for the best of luck, excellence and success in any and all future endeavors.
