PROCLAMATION

THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA DESIGNATING JULY 12, 2008 AS

BURLINGAME

MASONIC LODGE NO. 400 DAY

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, July 12, 2008 is the 100th Anniversary of Burlingame Masonic Lodge No. 400 in the City of Burlingame of California; and

   

WHEREAS, on March 5, 1908 a petition was sent from the Burlingame Master Masons requesting permission to form and conduct a Lodge; and

   

WHEREAS, the Burlingame Masonic Lodge had their first meeting in the Burlingame Train Station on March 17, 1908; and

   

WHEREAS, Burlingame No. 400 was chartered as a Lodge on October 15, 1908; and

 

WHEREAS, Louis Augustine Murch presided over the formation of Burlingame Lodge and was its first Master, and was ably assisted by Fred Douglas Lorton, Senior Warden; and

   

WHEREAS, the Burlingame Masonic Lodge No. 400 has been devoted to service to the community through scholarships, the Child ID program, Rebuilding Together and the support of members and their widows for 100 years.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby designates July 12, 2008 as Burlingame Masonic Lodge No. 400 Day, and furthermore extends its thanks to the Burlingame Masonic Lodge No. 400 for many years of dedicated community service that has benefited the residents of San Mateo County and congratulates the Burlingame Masonic Lodge No. 400 on its centennial anniversary.
