RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO SIGN A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING REGARDING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE STEERING COMMITTEE FOR THE JAMES FITZGERALD MARINE RESERVE CRITICAL COASTAL AREA PILOT PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE DEPUTY COUNTY MANAGER FOR COMMUNITY SERVICES OR HER DESIGNEE TO BE THE PRIMARY CONTACT FOR THE STEERING COMMITTEE

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, the Critical Coastal Areas Program is a statewide program that fosters collaboration among local stakeholders and government agencies to better coordinate resources and focus efforts on coastal watersheds in need of protection from polluted runoff, and

 

WHEREAS, the James Fitzgerald Marine Reserve Critical Coastal Area Pilot Project was initiated in 2005 to prevent and reduce nonpoint source pollution in the James V. Fitzgerald Marine Reserve and contributing watersheds, and

 

WHEREAS, protection and preservation of our natural environment is both a commitment and goal for the County of San Mateo, and

 

WHEREAS, County of San Mateo staff have actively participated in the James Fitzgerald Marine Reserve Critical Coastal Area Pilot Project since 2005,and

 

WHEREAS, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that outlines the operation of the Steering Committee as a collaborative forum to address nonpoint source pollution in the James V. Fitzgerald Marine Reserve and contributing watersheds has been developed, and

 

WHEREAS, agencies that want to participate in the Steering Committee must sign the MOU and designate a primary contact for Steering Committee activities,

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED THAT:

 

The County of San Mateo Board of Supervisors authorizes:

 

1.)

the President of the Board to sign the Memorandum of Understanding that establishes the Steering Committee for the James Fitzgerald Marine Reserve Critical Coastal Area Pilot Project; and

   

2.)

the Deputy County Manager for Community Services or her designee to be the primary Steering Committee contact for the County of San Mateo.
