RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO
DEVIATE FROM THE COUNTY MINIMUM ROAD STANDARD
THREE-FOOT WIDE VALLEY GUTTER TO TWO-FOOT WIDE VALLEY GUTTER
ON FRANKS LANE IN THE WEST MENLO PARK AREA

______________________________________________________________

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, this Board established minimum road standards and a priority list for road improvements in the West Menlo Park Area, which standards provide for
three-foot wide valley gutters, and require Board authorization for deviations from the standards; and

WHEREAS, initially, in September 2007, the owners of property on
Franks Lane from Valparaiso Avenue to Camino De Los Robles were surveyed by the Department of Public Works, and said survey determined that a majority of the property owners were in favor of having minimum road improvements constructed on this section of Franks Lane; and

WHEREAS, thereafter, in April 2008, the majority of property owners submitted a petition requesting that the current three-foot valley gutter be changed to two-foot valley gutter; and

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has evaluated the petition and considered the impacts to the adjacent properties; and

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has recommended the use of the
two-foot wide valley gutters; and

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Director of Public Works is authorized to implement the two-foot wide valley gutter as part of the minimum improvements that are to be constructed on only Franks Lane from Valparaiso Avenue to Camino De Los Robles.
