RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) WITH LA HONDA FIRE BRIGADE, INC. AND KINGS MOUNTAIN VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE, INC. TO PROVIDE VOLUNTEER FIRE PROTECTION AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE SERVICES IN COOPERATION WITH THE SAN MATEO COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the County provides emergency response and fire protection services to unincorporated areas not already in other fire protection districts through a cooperative agreement with CAL FIRE; and

WHEREAS, the scope of services provided by CAL FIRE to the County includes the coordination and training of volunteer firefighters; and

WHEREAS, there are approximately 40 volunteer firefighters that serve in the La Honda Fire Brigade and Kings Mountain Fire Brigade in assisting the County with providing emergency response and fire protection services to approximately 250 square miles of the county’s rural mountains and south coast; and

WHEREAS, the County desires to document the roles and responsibilities of the volunteer fire departments and the County.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Memorandum of Understanding for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of the Board shall attest the President’s signature thereto..
