BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION REJECTING ALL BIDS RECEIVED AND AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO RE-ADVERTISE THE COUNTY OFFICE BUILDING ELEVATOR MODERNIZATION, 455 COUNTY CENTER,
REDWOOD CITY, CALIFORNIA (PROJECT NO. P11P1)

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, this Board of Supervisors did, on April 8, 2008, adopt Resolution No. 069348, which resolution adopted plans and specifications, including conformance with prevailing wage scale requirements and called for sealed bids for the County Office Building Elevator Modernization; and

 

WHEREAS, the Clerk of this Board did, in public on May 13, 2008, open and examine all sealed bids that were received in the specified time for the doing of the work referred to in said Resolution No. 069348; and

 

WHEREAS, this Board of Supervisors has caused an analysis of said bids to be made by the Director of Public Works of the County of San Mateo; and

 

WHEREAS, Section 22038 of the Public Contract Code provides that a public agency may, at its discretion, reject all bids as presented and re-advertise the same work for bids; and

 

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has recommended that all bids originally received for said work be rejected and that the Director of Public Works be authorized to re-advertise the project for bid; and

 

WHEREAS, this Board has considered and concurs in the recommendations of the Director of Public Works.

 

    NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that

 

1.

All bids received on May 13, 2008, for said work are hereby rejected.

 

2.

The Director of Public Works is hereby authorized to re-advertise the project for bids as provided by Section 22038 of the Public Contract Code.

 

3.

The Department of Public Works is authorized and directed to issue a call for sealed bids to be received by the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, San Mateo County, on or before 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 9, 2008, in said office in the Hall of Justice, Redwood City, California. Said bids will then be transmitted to the County Manager’s Office in said Hall of Justice and be publicly opened and declared.

The Director of Public Works is authorized to extend the call for bid and bid opening up to sixty (60) days beyond the time and date set forth by the Board of Supervisors.

 

5.

The Department of Public Works is further directed to cause the Notice inviting sealed bids to be published for two times in the Independent Newspaper Group, a newspaper printed and published in this County, and to obtain an affidavit of said publication, a copy of which shall be placed on file with the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors.
