PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING AUGUST 2008 AS | ||||
Child Support Awareness Month | ||||

WHEREAS, the children and youth of California and San Mateo County represent the future viability of this state and this Peninsula, and they deserve proper and adequate emotional and financial support from adults responsible for their health, education and overall well-being; and | ||||
WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Department of Child Support Services remains committed to establishing and enforcing court orders for child support and health insurance, assisting more than 19,300 children and their custodial care-providers; and | ||||
WHEREAS, during fiscal years 2000 through 2007, Child Support Services collected more than $230 million in payments, meeting or exceeding every performance standard as measured by the US Child Support program; and | ||||
WHEREAS, additionally, Child Support Services dedicates significant resources toward the continuous distribution of information regarding the legal obligations of parenthood and the assistance available through the county department, the state and federal agencies. | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County designates August 2008 as Child Support Awareness Month, and encourages all parents of all backgrounds throughout San Mateo County to increase their understanding of the vital importance of providing consistent and adequate emotional and financial support for their children regardless of adult relationships. | ||||
