RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

MONTARA WATER AND SANITARY DISTRICT

ON ITS 50^th ANNIVERSARY

WHEREAS, the MONTARA WATER AND SANITARY DISTRICT was created in 1958, as Montara Sanitary District, by the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, to provide sanitary sewer service for Montara and Moss Beach; and

WHEREAS, the MONTARA WATER AND SANITARY DISTRICT has provided solid waste collection, recycling, and wastewater collection and treatment to the Montara and Moss Beach community for fifty years; and

WHEREAS, the MONTARA WATER AND SANITARY DISTRICT has exhibited a commitment to environmental protection by putting forth a bond measure to protect and rehabilitate the water system; and

WHEREAS, the MONTARA WATER AND SANITARY DISTRICT has demonstrated a commitment to the natural environment with the recent installation of photovoltaic cells resulting in the avoidance of depositing 10,000 lb CO2/year into the atmosphere; and

WHEREAS, the MONTARA WATER & SANITARY DISTRICT will celebrate its 50^th Anniversary this year and the 5^th Anniversary of public ownership of the water system on August 24, 2008.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County hereby commends the MONTARA WATER & SANITARY DISTRICT for its contributions to the County.
