Appointment to the Employees Retirement Association Board

RECOMMENDATION:
|
Appoint Benedict J. Bowler to the Employees Retirement Association Board filling an unexpired Board of Supervisors Appointed term. The appointment would be effective immediately and run for a term to conclude on June 30, 2010.

Goal(s): Civic engagement -- including voting, public service, charitable giving, volunteerism, and participation in public discussions of important issues -- is uniformly high among the diverse population of San Mateo County.

BACKGROUND:
|
There is currently one vacancy on the Employee Retirement Association Board.
|
Benedict Bowler is a resident of San Carlos and works as the Assistant Treasurer for Finance and Planning with Con-Way Inc. He has extensive experience in financial management and a strong background of participation in the community. He will bring a dedicated and informed voice to the Board and we recommend him for the position.
