RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING
|
|
North Peninsula Neighborhood Services Center
35th Anniversary
|

WHEREAS, NORTH PENINSULA NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES CENTER, Inc. was formed 35 years ago to provide information and referral services to the community; and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, the mission of NORTH PENINSULA NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES CENTER is to serve the poor and disadvantaged residents of San Mateo County towards improving the quality of life in accordance to their needs, and to bring about a better understanding and communication between different racial, ethnic, religious, age, economic and social groups; and

|
WHEREAS, NORTH PENINSULA NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES CENTER has been the primary provider of emergency, critical needs services to low-income families and individuals in South San Francisco, San Bruno and Brisbane; and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, the County of San Mateo classifies NORTH PENINSULA NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES CENTER as one of seven “Core Agencies” located in the County that provides critical safety-net services to low-income community members; and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, NORTH PENINSULA NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES CENTER is a first-stop destination for individuals or families in distress and, to accomplish its mission, offers vital programs, such as the Social Services program, Community Outreach and Education program, Minor Home Repair program and Home Repair Center program; and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, NORTH PENINSULA NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES CENTER is able to effectively serve the diverse community in San Mateo County with a staff that includes many bilingual and bicultural employees.
|
|
|
|
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, on August 8, 2008, hereby congratulates NORTH PENINSULA NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES CENTER on its 35th Anniversary, and extends its thanks for serving poor and disadvantaged residents in San Mateo County.
