RESOLUTION AWARDING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT TO A-1 CONSTRUCTION IN THE AMOUNT OF $179,977 FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE FIRST PHASE OF THE COASTAL TRAIL AT MIRADA SURF IN EL GRANADA

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, on July 8, 2008 the Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution No. 069560, adopting the plans and specifications (“Plans and Specifications”), including conformance with prevailing wage scale requirements, and called for sealed proposals for the construction of the First Phase of the Coastal Trail at Mirada Surf in El Granada; and

 

WHEREAS, the Clerk of this Board of Supervisors did, in public on July 29, 2008, open and examine all sealed proposals that were received in the specified time for the work referred to in said Resolution No. 069560; and

 

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works of the County of San Mateo has analyzed the proposals and the Board has, in open session, fully reviewed and considered said sealed proposals and the analysis thereof; and

 

WHEREAS, the lowest responsible bid was submitted by A-1 Construction, in the amount of One Hundred Forty-Nine Thousand Nine Hundred Eighty-One and 00/100 Dollars ($149,981.00) based on an estimate of the amount of work to be done.

 

    NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED as follows:

 

1.

It is to the best interest of the County of San Mateo to award the contract for the construction of the First Phase of the Coastal Trail at Mirada Surf in El Granada to:

A-1 Construction

24875 Palomares Road

Castro Valley, CA 94552

 

2.

The County of San Mateo shall enter into a written agreement with A-1 Construction for the work as required by the Plans and Specifications adopted and approved by this Board of Supervisors and on file in the office of the Director of Public Works of the County of San Mateo.

   

3.

On behalf of the County of San Mateo, the President of this Board of Supervisors shall be, and is hereby, authorized and directed to execute an agreement with A-1 Construction for the work described herein, subject to the Department of Public Works receipt and approval of the Faithful Performance Surety Bond and the Payment Bond required to be posted by said Contractor in connection therewith.

   

4.

All payments to the Contractor shall be in accordance with the plans, specifications, and other contract documents, based on the Director of Public Works' written estimates of work actually done.

   

5.

Total aggregate payments to Contractor shall not exceed the sum of One Hundred Seventy-Nine Thousand Nine Hundred Seventy-Seven and 00/100 Dollars ($179,977), which includes the low bid of $149,981 plus a 20% contingency for unanticipated items, without this Board's approval.

   

6.

The Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, County of San Mateo, is hereby authorized and directed to attest the signature of the President of this Board of Supervisors to said written contract.
