RECOMMENDATION:
|
Adopt a resolution:
1. Authorizing the President of the Board to execute an Agreement with Larry K. Fan, M.D. to provide specialty plastic surgery services for the period September 1, 2008 through August 31, 2009 in an amount not to exceed $124,500.
2. Authorizing the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of San Mateo Medical Center or the CEO's designee to execute contract amendments which modify the County's maximum fiscal obligation by no more than $25,000 (in aggregate), and/or modify the contract term and/or services so long as the modified term or services is/are within the current or revised fiscal provisions.

BACKGROUND / DISCUSSION:
|
Plastic surgery services are provided under the general direction of the Chief of Surgery
of the San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC). Such care includes professional plastic surgery services, specifically in the area of non-cosmetic post-traumatic, post-cancer and hand reconstructive care.

|
Dr. Fan has provided professional plastic surgery services at SMMC since September 2006. He performs surgeries one full day every other week and provides a half day clinic every other week. In addition, Dr. Fan provides ER call coverage every other night.
|
|
|
This item was reviewed by the Health System Redesign initiative Team and aligns with the first-year implementation plan approved by the Board of Supervisors on March 25, 2008.
|

|
County Counsel and Risk Management have reviewed and approved this Agreement.
|
|
|
The Contractor has assured compliance with the County's Contractor Employee Jury Service Ordinance, as well as all other contract provisions that are required by County ordinance and administrative memoranda, including but not limited to insurance, hold harmless, non-discrimination and equal benefits.

FISCAL IMPACT:
|
The total amount expendable under this Agreement is $124,500, which is the same as last year. Funding for this Agreement is included in the Fiscal Year 2008-2009 Budget.
