RESOLUTION APPROVING THE DRAFT SAN MATEO COUNTY ENERGY STRATEGY FOR DISTRIBUTION TO THE CITIES IN SAN MATEO COUNTY FOR THEIR REVIEW AND COMMENT

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the Utility and Sustainability Task Force (USTF), which is an ad hoc committee of the Congestion Management and Environmental Quality Committee (CMEQ) of the City/County Association of Governments (C/CAG), is nearing the completion of the San Mateo County Energy Strategy document to effect greater collaboration between the utilities and the cities, increase energy efficiency and the utilization of renewable energy sources, the conservation of water and the reduction greenhouse gas emissions;

WHEREAS, the County of San Mateo seeks to support County and local governments communication and collaboration in order to develop strategic approaches on issues affecting the entire County; and

WHEREAS, the USTF and Department of Public Works wish to distribute the draft Energy Strategy to all the cities in the county and ask that they comment on the Energy Strategy and eventually adopt the goals in the Energy Strategy, commit to working collaboratively towards these goals with other cities and the County, and release energy use information to the County for purposes of tracking energy and greenhouse gas emissions.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the draft San Mateo County Energy Strategy is approved for distribution to the cities for review and comment.
