RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING

Yayun E. “Eddie” Hu

Upon Receiving a

2008 Erich Jenkins Memorial

Youth Advocate of the Year Scholarship

WHEREAS, Yayun E. “Eddie” Hu has received a 2008 Erich Jenkins Memorial Youth Advocate of the Year Scholarship, presented by the California Youth Advocacy Network, annually recognizing three California high school students for their leadership in anti-tobacco efforts; and

WHEREAS, Eddie is the 2008 president of the San Mateo County Youth Commission and serves on the board of directors of Yo! Mateo, the Youth Leadership Institute; and

WHEREAS, Eddie has worked actively throughout the Peninsula to increase awareness among youth and adults about the dangers of tobacco-use, and has facilitated regional as well as statewide workshops; and

WHEREAS, in 2003, Eddie played a significant role in the eventual passage of San Mateo County’s first tobacco retail licensing ordinance, and he continues to lobby various jurisdictions to approve similar regulations.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Yayun E. “Eddie” Hu upon receiving a 2008 Erich Jenkins Memorial Youth Advocate of the Year Scholarship, presented by the California Youth Advocacy Network. The Board hereby expresses its gratitude and extends to Eddie sincere wishes for continued success and excellence in all future endeavors.
