Appointments to the San Mateo County Workforce Investment Board

RECOMMENDATION:

Approve the appointments of Dee Canepa and Jorge Jaramillo as the private sector representatives and Linda Gomes, as a public sector representative to the Workforce Investment Board (WIB), each to a term expiring on June 30, 2010.

BACKGROUND:

The WIB Board of Directors approved the applications for both Dee Canepa and Linda Gomes at the July 17, 2008 WIB meeting. The WIB Board of Directors approved Jorge Jaramillo’s application at the August 21, 2008 WIB meeting.

DISCUSSION:

Linda Gomes currently manages Workforce Services Programs in San Mateo and San Francisco Counties. She has over 30 years of experience with the State’s Exployment Development Department.

Dee Canepa is currently the Vice President of the First National Back of Northern California Daly City Branch. She is a member of the Seton Health Foundation’s Finance Committee and was past President of the Daly City Chamber of Commerce.

Jorge Jaramillo is currently the President of the San Mateo County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He is also the owner of a small business, Open Markets Company in San Mateo County.
