JOSEPH KARP DAY

WHEREAS, on this fourteenth day of October, two thousand and eight, JOSEPH KARP is being honored by his friends and family on the occasion of his 8oth birthday; and

   
 

WHEREAS, JOSEPH KARP was born to Mollie and Max Karp in the City of San Francisco where he attended public schools; and

   
 

WHEREAS, JOSEPH KARP served his country honorably as a soldier in the United States Army in Europe and the Far East; and

   
 

WHEREAS, JOSEPH KARP is a loving husband, the proud father of two sons and the proud grandfather of five; and

   
 

WHEREAS, JOSEPH KARP has been active in real estate and development on the Peninsula for more than 54 years; and

   
 

WHEREAS, JOSEPH KARP has served his community as a member of the San Mateo County Civil Grand Jury and as a trustee on the San Mateo County Mosquito and Vector Control District Board; and

   
 

WHEREAS, JOSEPH KARP is renowned for telling and retelling stories, including stories about his boxing career and his job with a newspaper.

   
 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County hereby designates October 14, 2008 as JOSEPH KARP DAY in San Mateo County and joins with JOSEPH KARP’S family, friends and neighbors in celebration of his many distinguished accomplishments and joins in wishing him a very happy 80th birthday.
