RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF TWO TRUST FUNDS FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF FINANCES RELATED TO THE LA HONDA LANDSLIDE ASSESSMENT DISTRICT

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, on October 30, 2007 the Board adopted Resolution No. 069071, authorizing the Department of Public Works to construct improvements on portions of Escondido Drive and to proceed with preparations for the construction of slope stabilization improvements in connection with the La Honda Landslide. The Board also authorized a contribution of $250,000 from the General Fund to support this work; and

WHEREAS, on April 22, 2008 the Board adopted Resolution No. 069359, authorizing the Director of Public Works to form the La Honda Landslide Assessment District, and to levy the cost of constructing soil stability improvements and reconstructing Scenic Drive as a charge to properties within said District. The Board authorized a contribution of $3,993,967 from the General Fund to support this project; and

WHEREAS, the County was awarded $2,170,265 from the California Office of Emergency Assistance to support the work on Upper Scenic Drive related to this project; and

WHEREAS, it is necessary to establish two trust funds – one to account for the State grant, and the other for the remaining funds:

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors authorizes the establishment of two trust funds for the management of finances related to the La Honda Landslide Assessment District.
