    RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUPERVISORS TO :

   

1.

ACCEPTANCE OF ADDITIONAL FUNDING FROM THE FY08 STATE HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT THROUGH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF HOMELAND SECURITY (OHS) FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY (DHS) IN THE AMOUNT OF $116,386; AND

   

2.

AUTHORIZING THE SHERIFF IN HIS CAPACITY AS OES AREA COORDINATOR TO EXECUTE THE GRANT AND ANY RELATED DOCUMENTS.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, on August 5, 2008 the Board of Supervisors approved a Resolution (Resolution No 069623) to submit a grant application in the amount of not to exceed $2,500,000 to the California Office of Homeland Security and to execute the grant and any other documents required by and for the program as described.

 

WHEREAS, the California Office of Homeland Security has now distributed additional funding to the Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services (OES) in the amount of $116,386 to enhance and/or supplement the capabilities of local first responders

 

WHEREAS, OES will serve as the administrator for the grant award received in the amount of TWO MILLION SIX HUNDRED SIXTEEN THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED EIGHTY SIX DOLLARS AND NO CENTS ($2,616,386) through the State of California from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to enhance the capabilities of local first responders;

WHEREAS, this grant award is a no match grant through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS);

WHEREAS, this additional grant funding will be used to enhance the following projects: Interoperability Communications, Information Sharing, Pharmaceuticals and Supplies, Public Notification System, Training and Exercising for First Responders, and Citizen Preparedness.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors authorizes the Sheriff, in his capacity as OES Area Coordinator, to apply for and accept the additional grant funding.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED; that the Sheriff in his capacity as OES Area Coordinator or his designees execute the grant and any related documents.
