RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

DETECTIVE SERGEANT LINDA GIBBONS

As the recipient of the 2008 Barbara Hammerman Award

WHEREAS, on this 7th day of October, two thousand and eight, Detective Sergeant Linda Gibbons is honored for her dedication and exemplary service to victims of domestic violence and their children through her ongoing efforts to preserve the respect and dignity of victims, the thorough and excellent investigation of domestic violence cases under her command, and her long- term involvement to improve the coordinated response to domestic violence;and

   

WHEREAS, DETECTIVE SERGEANT LINDA GIBBONS contributed greatly to the development of the 2004 San Mateo County Domestic Violence Protocol, spearheading the writing of the law enforcement roles and responsibilities portion and participating in the training of over 1,000 San Mateo County law enforcement officers over a two year period on that protocol; and

   

WHEREAS, DETECTIVE SERGEANT LINDA GIBBONS has been actively involved in the development and implementation of the Domestic Violence Firearms Relinquishment Program and has been a steadfast member of the Domestic Violence Council’s Legal Process Committee; and

   

WHEREAS, DETECTIVE SERGEANT LINDA GIBBONS is also a model to the detectives under her command and instills in them a similar commitment to combating domestic violence in our community; and

   

WHEREAS, DETECTIVE SERGEANT LINDA GIBBONS has served with distinction, displaying compassion and innovation as she works tirelessly to make our community a safer place to live for victims of domestic violence and their children.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County, on this 7th day of October, two thousand and eight, expresses congratulations and sincere gratitude to DETECTIVE SERGEANT LINDA GIBBONS as the recipient of the Barbara Hammerman Domestic Violence Law Enforcement Award for her dedication and exemplary service to victims of domestic violence. The citizens of San Mateo County have greatly benefited from the efforts of DETECTIVE SERGEANT LINDA GIBBONS. The Board of Supervisors extends its heartfelt appreciation and best wishes for continued success.
