RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING
|
|
|
DOUG CALLAHAN
AS MILLBRAE
2008 MAN OF THE YEAR
|

|
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that DOUG CALLAHAN is being honored at Millbrae’s 2008 Millbrae Man & Woman of the Year Awards Dinner for outstanding voluntary service to the community; and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, DOUG CALLAHAN is an untiring volunteer whose passion for Millbrae led to the formation of the Millbrae Leo’s Club by proposing the creation of a formal youth organization for the purpose of developing outstanding citizens through leadership, responsibility and service to the community ; and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, the Millbrae Leos Club is a reliable organization that many community groups have turned to for help, and has donated close to one thousand hours of community service, such as assisting at elementary school fundraisers, serving at city events and park cleanings and providing assistance at youth and senior programs; and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, DOUG CALLAHAN presides as the chief advisor and Director of the Millbrae Leos Club, has attended all Leos Club functions for the last three years, and nurtures youths’ abilities; and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, DOUG CALLAHAN’s compassion for youths led him to direct the Youth-in-Action Program in Millbrae, and to later promote Youth-in-Action at Lions and Leos events, in order to create and promote model young citizens in government service through youth activities.
|
|
|
|
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, on this 17th day of October, two thousand and eight, hereby honors and commends DOUG CALLAHAN as Millbrae’s 2008 Man of the Year for his outstanding volunteer service. The citizens of Millbrae and San Mateo County have greatly benefited from the efforts of DOUG CALLAHAN. The Board of Supervisors extends its heartfelt appreciation and congratulations.
