BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:

Dr. Barry McNamara has provided ophthalmology services to San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) for more than 15 years. In particular, these services include the diagnosis and treatment for diseases of the eye, including glaucoma surgery, cataract surgery, and clinics for eye injury, trauma, or refractive corrections. Patients treated at SMMC have a continuous need for such eye care services, and Dr. McNamara offers the hospital the benefits of an experienced provider familiar with the complex nature of the County’s patient base

The original Agreement budget was based on an annual RVU productivity level of 967.27 RBRVS work units with a cushion to cover anticipated increases in surgical cases. Actual RVU productivity levels for Dr. McNamara’s FY2007-08 were 1392, 44% above the original budgeted amount. The Amendment for $5,000 in additional funding is based on this increased productivity and will allow for payment of invoices recently received for services rendered during the contract period
