RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE PROPOSED REVISIONS TO THE COUNTY’S HEALTHCARE FOR THE MEDICALLY INDIGENT POLICY, IN ALIGNMENT WITH THE COUNTY’S WELFARE AND INSTITUTIONS CODE SECTION 17000 RESPONSIBILITIES

 

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, Welfare and Institutions Code section 17000 et. seq. require counties to adopt standards of aid to serve the medically indigent resident population; and

 

WHEREAS, County Ordinance Code section 2.64.050 requires the County to adopt policies and procedures regarding health service programs, including Welfare and Institutions Code section 17000 et. seq. policies; and

 

WHEREAS, in 2005, this Board adopted and ordered the implementation of a policy to ensure provision of Healthcare to the Medically Indigent, which is referred to as the Wellness, Education, Linkages, Low Cost (WELL) Program; and

 

WHEREAS, this Board deems it appropriate to revise the WELL Program to align it with current efforts taking place through, among other efforts, the Health System Redesign Initiative, the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Adult Health Care Coverage Expansion, and the Access and Care for Everyone Program; and

 

WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Board for its consideration and acceptance, proposed revisions to the Healthcare to the Medically Indigent /WELL Program.

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the attached revisions to the County’s Healthcare for the Medically Indigent Policy are hereby accepted and that this policy shall be implemented.
