RESOLUTION:
(1) INCREASING THE AGGREGATE AMOUNT ON CONTRACT REVISION ORDERS THAT THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS CAN EXECUTE WITH
KITECH SECURITY SYSTEMS, INC FROM TEN PERCENT (10%) $16,500 TO TWENTY PERCENT (20%) $33,000 FOR A TOTAL NOT TO EXCEED CONSTRUCTION AMOUNT OF $198,000, AND
(2) AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT OF THE AGREEMENT TO INCREASE THE CONTRACT TIME AN ADDITIONAL ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN (115) CALENDAR DAYS FOR THE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM REPLACEMENT PROJECT.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 069314, the County entered into an Agreement dated March 11, 2008 with Kitech Security Systems, Inc. for the construction of the Fire Alarm System Replacement project; and

 

WHEREAS, the original Agreement was based on an estimate of services to be provided, and authorized the Director of Public Works to approve change orders not to exceed ten percent (10%) of the contract maximum; and

 

WHEREAS, the scope of work required under this Agreement has increased to include additional State Fire Marshal requested work; and

 

WHEREAS, additional time of one hundred fifteen (115) calendar days was required to complete the work, for the State Fire Marshal to review the Fire Alarm submittals and for back checks to be prepared, submitted and approved; and

 

WHEREAS, these Fire Marshal required additions will result in a project cost in excess of the Public Works Director’s current authority to approve change orders not to exceed ten percent (10%) of the contract maximum, and it is anticipated that the additional work can be completed if the Director is authorized to approve change orders in an aggregate amount not to exceed twenty percent (20%) of the contract maximum; and

 

WHEREAS, this Board has considered the recommendation of the Director of Public Works and concurs in the recommendation.

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED as follows:

 

1.

The Director of Public Works shall be hereby authorized to execute contract change orders related to the agreement Fire Alarm Replacement project at Cordilleras Mental Health Rehabilitation Center not exceeding $33,000 for a total not to exceed construction amount of $198,000 in aggregate, which is twenty percent (20%) of the contract amount.

 

2.

The Director of Public Works shall be hereby authorized to amend the agreement with Kitech Security Systems for the for the Fire Alarm System Replacement project at Cordilleras Mental Health Rehabilitation Center by adding one hundred (115) calendar days to the agreement.
