Appropriation Transfer Request
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve an Appropriation Transfer Request (ATR) transferring $1,248,908 from revenue sources to department reserves account.
VISION ALIGNMENT:
Commitment: Responsive, effective and collaborative government
Goal 20: Government decisions are based on careful consideration of future impact, rather than temporary relief or immediate gain.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:
On July 24, 2008, the County settled a personal injury lawsuit brought by the San Mateo Public Guardian on behalf of a disabled conservatee. As a result of the settlement, attorney’s fees were awarded to the County Counsel in the amount of $1,248,908. These fees represent miscellaneous, unanticipated revenues to the office. It is respectfully requested that the attorney’s fees be appropriated in department reserves.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The total amount of the unanticipated revenue of $1,248,908 will be added to the Department’s FY 2008-09 Adopted Budget through the accompanying ATR. There is no impact to Net County Cost.
