RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING

Hon. Jean E. Brink

Upon Her Retirement After

20 Years as a Trustee of the

Jefferson Union High School District

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, Jean E. Brink was first elected in 1988 to the Board of Trustees of the Jefferson Union High School District, and has been re-elected four times in 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2004, while seeing two children through Oceana High School; and

   

WHEREAS, over the years, Jean has served with three JUHSD superintendents, Floyd Gonella, Robert Gross and Michael Crilly, as the district survived multiple economic downturns and passed two bond measures for physical infrastructure updates and improvements; and

   

WHEREAS, as a supporter of arts education, Jean regularly attended band and other musical concerts, art shows and performing arts events, plus her long-standing personal involvement in the Oceana Natatorium’s mosaic mural project; and

   

WHEREAS, Jean’s deep sense of community directs her to oversee the annual Board of Trustees Silver Jubilee reception recognizing 25-year JUHSD employees and the yearly retirement reception; and

   

WHEREAS, as a Trustee, Jean consistently focused on the needs of the students, while never forgetting that it is dedicated administrators, faculty and staff, who work hard to meet those needs on a daily basis.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates the Hon. Jean E. Brink upon her retirement after 20 years as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Jefferson Union High School District. The Board expresses its gratitude to Jean and her family, and extends sincere wishes for many more years of peace, health and happiness.
