BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE CERTIFICATE OF THE CHIEF ELECTIONS OFFICER AS THE STATEMENT OF THE VOTE AS DETERMINED BY THE OFFICIAL CANVASS OF THE CONSOLIDATED NOVEMBER 4, 2008 PRESIDENTIAL GENERAL ELECTION, AND DECLARING CERTAIN CANDIDATES TO BE ELECTED OR APPOINTED IN LIEU OF HOLDING AN ELECTION AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF CERTAIN BALLOT MEASURES.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS this Honorable Board is the governing body of the County of San Mateo, by whose authority the November 4, 2008 Presidential General Election was consolidated with certain local elections (Resolution No. 69706, September 30, 2008) and conducted throughout San Mateo County by the County’s Chief Elections Officer in all respects as if it were one election, in accordance with Elections Code sections 10400 et seq.; and

 

WHEREAS the Chief Elections Officer, in accordance with law, has completed the official canvass of the complete returns of the votes cast at said election, has prepared a statement of the votes polled, and has presented a certified copy thereof to this Honorable Board; and

 

WHEREAS the Chief Elections Officer will deliver a duplicate of said certified statement to the California Secretary of State and to the county central committee of each political party, as provided by Elections Code sections 15375 and 15376; and

 

WHEREAS the Chief Elections Officer has prepared, authorized, and signed the certificates of election, and will submit them to the governing body of each jurisdiction having called an election to be thus consolidated, so that each body shall declare the candidates elected under its jurisdiction and/or declare the results of ballot measure(s), according to Elections Code sections 15401; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND HEREBY ORDERED that the Deputy Clerk of the Board shall enter upon the minutes of this meeting of this Board of Supervisors said statement of the votes polled at said election; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said statement of the votes polled shall be and is hereby adopted as the official vote of said election held throughout the County of San Mateo, State of California, on November 4, 2008; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following named persons, having won the most votes, are hereby ordered and declared elected to their respective offices, pursuant to Elections Code section 15400, each one for a four-year term:
