BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION:

 

A) WAIVING THE REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP) PROCESS

 

B) AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH IV ASSIST, INC. TO PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL SPECIALTY PERIPHERALLY INSERTED CENTRAL CATHETER LINE SERVICES FROM MAY 1, 2008 THROUGH APRIL 30, 2009, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $175,000 AND

 

C) AUTHORIZING THE SAN MATEO MEDICAL CENTER (SMMC) CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO) OR THE CEO'S DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE CONTRACT AMENDMENTS WHICH MODIFY THE COUNTY'S MAXIMUM FISCAL OBLIGATION BY NO MORE THAN $25,000 (IN AGGREGATE), AND/OR MODIFY THE CONTRACT TERM AND/OR SERVICES SO LONG AS THE MODIFIED TERM OR SERVICES IS/ARE WITHIN THE CURRENT OR REVISED FISCAL BUDGET.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, Ordinance Code Section 2.83.170 authorizes the Board of Supervisors to waive the Request for Proposals process in any situation where the Board determines that the best interest of the County could be served without the necessity of formal proposals; and

 

WHEREAS, San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) requires professional services in the areas of peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) line services, and

 

WHEREAS, IV Assist, Inc. is the only vendor for these services in the Bay Area providing PICC line services without requiring a significant business line volume for home health care services, which SMMC cannot provide; and

 

WHEREAS, the County has determined that IV Assist, Inc. possesses the skills and abilities necessary to provide PICC line services; and

 

WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Board of Supervisors for its consideration and approval an Agreement, reference to which is hereby made, whereby IV Assist, Inc. shall provide PICC line services at and for SMMC for the period of May 1, 2008 through April 30, 2009, for an amount not to exceed $175,000; and

 

WHEREAS, this Board considered the Agreement and has approved it as to both form and content and desires to enter into it.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that it is in the best interest of the County to waive the RFP process and the RFP process is hereby waived.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the President of this Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Agreement for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President's signatures thereto.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of San Mateo Medical Center, or the CEO's designee, shall be authorized to execute amendments to the Agreement which modify the County's maximum fiscal obligation by no more than $25,000 (in aggregate), and/or modify the contract term and/or services so long as the modified term or services is/are within the current or revised fiscal provisions.
